ETERNALLY'10 WINS!

by M.A.Bautista

Are AtFest'10 Chorale competition contestants of the College of Nursing where 28 nursing students where chosen to sing a warm up song and the contest piece, Send Your Spirit, that is originally sung by the Hangad.

The Nursing Chorale is handled by Ms. Kaye de Barras, a veteran Hermosa member; conducted by Krizzell Wee, a member of the Ateneo Band; and accompanied by the Hermosa member as the group's pianist, Jen Macaso.

The practices started on November 15,2010 and ended in the afternoon of December 4, 2010. The performance date is scheduled on December 4th year 2010 in the evening. The usual practice schedule of the group is at 6pm to 9pm, and on the last few days before the choral competition the practices started at 9am and usually ends at 8pm.

During practices, the voices get the song piece very well except for the notes on the 'Eternally' part where the bases and tenor interchanged voices just to solve the sharp problems. Also, an alto and a soprano, having the ability to sing a tenor voice, where also instructed to sing with the tenors on the 'Eternally' part. Instructions like "THINK HIGH" "SWELL" "DEMONS" "LUMUS" "SHARP" "SOFTER" where common words verbalized by the Nursing Chorale Instructress. Hence, the group decided to name themselves ETERNALLY'10 because of the 50/50% chances of hitting the 'eternally' note. Series of diction checking and dynamics, softening and swelling, where done. Eventually, terms such as "To-ho" "Ni-year" and "E-TER-NA-LLY" where commonly gives a smile on each members every time they rehears.

During the competition, the performance of the Nursing Chorale were loved by the audience and the Judges. Hence, the Nursing Chorale championed the contest beating contenders of other courses namely Accountancy, Management, Education & Information Technology.

The group headed by the Chorale group coach, Micheal Macaso, a soprano 1,claimed the Chorale Competition Champion Trophy at around 10 in the evening of December 4, 2010. The crowd cheered the Nursing Chorale harmoniously shouting "BSN! BSN! BSN!". The dean of the college of Nursing, Ms.Ma. Lorna B. Paber, RN MAN offered a token of gratitude after the said event as well as some of the Nursing Faculty so as the other students of different courses.

On the 5th of December at around 6 in the evening, the group ended all up with a little celebration, a lengthening chitchat and the giving of a token of gratitude to the ETERNITY'10's instructress and pianist.
